Website Designing tips for designing Business Website

The modern world requires modern tactics and tools to leave an everlasting impression.  More business owners are now aware of the internet platforms through which businesses can connect with their target audience and turn leads into sales. Having an online presence typically means having your website. Since you are incurring time & investment for setting up, hosting, and maintaining your website, you would want a decent return on your investment.

In order to churn out a decent ROI from your website, you need conversions. This can be filling out a form, making an online purchase, or downloading content. While there are innumerable marketing channels that can help users find your website, once they are in, they actually have to stick there in order to convert.

But we are not going to talk about sales and conversions here. We’re going to inform you of some basic website designing tips that will help your website to be as user-friendly as possible.

A user-friendly site

Functionality is the key. If users visit your website and do not understand how to extract the information they want, they would simply move onto another website. This is so due to the fact that the internet has a wealth of information that is so abundant that users have multiple choices for a single topic. With so many competitors, you cannot afford to lose a single customer due to functionality issues on your website.

While designing your website, try to make it attractive but very simple to use. Only if your users have a great user experience will they tend to convert into your customers.

Navigation

The first check-point of your web design should be navigation. This includes the menu option that your site is likely to have at the top of every page along with related and internal links on your website. Overloading your menu with too many items will make it look cluttered and confusing. Include your product and services page along with the ‘About Us’ & ‘Blogs’ section. Also, it is imperative that you include only the important ( or the most important if you have lots of information) information on your menu.
If you have additional information that cannot be included on the menu tab, try sidebars as a secondary navigation menu for related and internal body links.  You can also include links at the bottom of your page to avoid too much information on one side of the page.

Content

Keep your desired content in mind while making adjustments & designing your website, rather than the other way around. Content is of prime importance, in the absence of which the internet would be meaningless. Whether you are an e-commerce business listing your products to sell or you want to show your USPs to users and even to provide your contact details to get in touch with users, content is the prime factor.

So don’t reshape your content a per your design. Content should supplement the design of your website designing process.

Layout

Again, bear in mind is that your website pages should not be too cluttered. This helps the user not only to understand what actually is on the page but also to more quickly locate the content most relevant to them.

If you have a website with multi-column page layouts, then you need to be wary. Sometimes having too many things on your website can confuse your users as to where to start or look.

Colors

Many businesses prefer to keep the overall color of their website as per their logo. Your logo might feature bright, enthusiastic colors, which may be impressive. However, the same vibrancy may not be as appealing when used as a background color or in all of your site’s imagery.
Go for functionality with simple, yet attractive color themes for your website. Ensure not to make it overly intrusive by sacrificing usability.

Device types

This one is given. Your website needs to be flexible in order to cater to different types of devices. If someone has to zoom in & out to read content on your website through their mobiles, chances are that they won’t endure this inconvenience for long.  Keep in mind the additional stuff like text size, image resizing, button size, as well as the layout of the menu bar. Your website needs to cater to usability, right from the touch on mobiles and tabs, to the click on the mouse.

Although there are many technicalities involved in website designing, it is important that business owners prioritize the most important. The ones covered above are fundamentals to website designs and need attention.
